Bhupesh Baghel was born on August 23, 1961, in Durg district, Chhattisgarh. He hails from a political family, with his father Nand Kumar Baghel being a prominent leader in the region.

Baghel joined politics at a young age and became associated with the Indian National Congress (INC). He worked his way up through the party ranks, gaining experience and recognition. He held various positions within the party, including the President of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) from 2014 to 2018.

In the 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections, Baghel played a crucial role in leading the Congress to victory. The Congress party emerged as the single largest party, winning 68 out of 90 seats in the assembly. Following this, Bhupesh Baghel was chosen as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, taking office on December 17, 2018.

As Chief Minister, Baghel has focused on implementing welfare programs and policies aimed at improving the lives of the people of Chhattisgarh.
