The Gujarat Police is the law enforcement agency responsible for maintaining law and order in the state of Gujarat, India. It is under the control of the Home Department of the Government of Gujarat. The history and work of the Gujarat Police can be summarized as follows:

History: The history of the Gujarat Police dates back to the formation of the state of Gujarat in 1960. Prior to that, it was a part of the Bombay Police, which was established during British colonial rule. After the formation of Gujarat, the Gujarat Police was created as a separate entity to serve the newly formed state.

Work and Functions:

Maintaining Law and Order: One of the primary responsibilities of the Gujarat Police is to maintain law and order within the state. They work to prevent crime, control public gatherings and demonstrations, and ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
